Restorative Yoga

Restorative yoga is the art of active relaxation, and our workshops at Namaste Yoga + Wellness provide a dedicated space to explore this profoundly healing practice. Unlike more dynamic styles of yoga, restorative yoga uses an abundance of props, including bolsters, blankets, blocks, straps, and eye pillows, to support the body in a small number of poses held for extended periods, typically five to twenty minutes each. The goal is not to stretch or strengthen but to create conditions of complete ease in which the body's natural healing mechanisms can activate. When the muscles are fully supported and the mind is given permission to quiet, the parasympathetic nervous system engages, heart rate slows, blood pressure lowers, and deep restoration begins.

In these workshops, you will learn how to set up each posture with precise prop placement so that you can recreate the practice at home with items you already own. The instructor guides you through each transition with care, making fine adjustments to ensure that every participant finds their unique expression of comfort within each pose. Gentle breathwork and body scan meditations accompany the physical practice, helping to release layers of tension that accumulate in the fascia, joints, and organs over time. Many participants report improvements in sleep quality, reduced anxiety, and a renewed sense of emotional equilibrium after just a single session. For those recovering from illness, injury, or simply the cumulative effects of a demanding lifestyle, restorative yoga offers benefits that active practice alone cannot provide.

These workshops are suitable for absolutely everyone, regardless of age, fitness level, or yoga experience. The practice is inherently gentle and deeply inclusive, making it an ideal entry point for newcomers and a vital complement for experienced practitioners who tend toward more vigorous styles.
